Noriko Ayai - Certificate III in Companion Animal Services

I am an Animal Services student at Brisbane North Institute of TAFE, Australia. I have always loved animals, and wanted to study animals in Australia. My college teacher in Japan told me about this course at Brisbane North Institute.

I love the course; we study nutrition, basic training, and the care of small animals like dogs, cats and birds and grooming - we actually clip dogs and wash dogs. Sometimes we help to examine animals and observe cats and dogs. I share a house with one Aussie and one Japanese girl at the moment.

When I've finished my course I want to find a job with animals, dog grooming or pet shop. Actually I want to be a dog trainer at the moment so maybe I'll do another course for dog trainer and find some work with dog trainers.

Australia is great; I love the people and the climate. I really like it here.

The Commercial Cookery course is fun - I am studying with different people from all parts of the world. This course and Brisbane North TAFE is a good choice if you want to come and study in Brisbane.

Akiko Uemura - Diploma of Children's Services

I came to study in Brisbane as it is a very nice city, and Brisbane Institute of TAFE offered the Child care course I was looking for. The course is very good, we study about children, we go to childcare centres, play with children and study child behaviour in the classroom. I am really enjoying my course. There are some international students in my course but also a lot of Australian students and we all help each other.

Life in Brisbane is fun and easy to live in. It is easy to catch the bus and public transport. When I first arrived in Brisbane I stayed with a homestay family. I really enjoyed it and now that I'm living together with some Japanese friends I still keep in touch with my homestay family.

If anyone is thinking of coming to study in Brisbane, I would recommend it to them. There are many international students here and it is easy to live here and easy to study.

My Commercial Cookery course is very interesting particularly because we have the opportunity to study with different chefs which is very nice and very helpful. I really like this course a lot. The best thing is that we are learning different things and we are learning how to work as a team and that we are all international students.

Chris Ryder - Diploma of Graphic Design

The Diploma of Graphic Design has turned out to be a great course. I learned more in one class than I had in 10 years as a graphic designer, I was able to pretty much master Adobe Illustrator without ever having touched it before within five months of using it. The course has helped to expand my abilities beyond 10 years. I have been doing graphic design as an amateur and I have gotten more from the last six months at TAFE than I have in the last 10 years of doing it on my own.

The best thing about being here is the people. Australians are by far the nicest people I have ever met in my entire life - I've been to London, Canada, Mexico, all over the United States, and I've never met a more openly friendly and caring people than I've found in Brisbane.

After my studies I hope to go into Graphic Design as a professional and be able to make a full living of it and I shouldn't have a problem with the skills I have attained at TAFE.

In my General English course I learn about general English, I learned speaking, writing and listening and reading. It has already helped me to improve my English, and I'm more confident now. I'm enjoying the course and I met many foreign students and made many friends.

If someone wants to study here I would tell them BNIT is a very good place to learn English, the teachers are very helpful and kind and students are very friendly and outgoing. When I go back home, I will miss my teachers and friends.

Itsuka Mochimaru - Diploma of Tourism (Operations Management)

I heard a lot about studying at TAFE from a friend who studied TAFE before and it was quite interesting for me. I chose Brisbane North Institute because I preferred to go to a school that didn't have too many Japanese students as I really wanted to be sure I would learn English well and study with more locals. I also wanted to study in a city that was not too crowded.

In my course I'm learning about things we will need when we work in the tourism industry, such as how to make a reservation through the internet, the attractions of the world, customer service, communication, finance and so on. I found it interesting that we can learn about behind the scene things, like making a reservation on computers.

Brisbane is a very comfortable city to live and I wish I could keep living here. I especially like the markets on the weekend. The best thing about Australia is the nice weather and friendly people - especially in Brisbane.
Itsuka Mochimaru - Diploma of Tourism (Operations Management)

My English class has about 10 students and we have all studied hard in a peaceful atmosphere. My classmates and teachers are very nice and I am enjoying it. Living in Brisbane is very peaceful, comfortable and beautiful. The people are very kind and very friendly.
