Step 1
Complete a Brisbane North Institute of TAFE Application Form for International Students and supply the following supporting documents:
- education certificate(s) and academic records
- evidence of employment history (if applicable)
- references from employers (if applicable)
- English language test results (IELTS, TOEFL or ISLPR)
- a passport-sized photograph
- a copy of your personal details and student visa page(s) from your passport.
If you are applying from within Australia, you should supply:
- a copy of your personal details and student visa page(s) from your passport
- a copy of your OSHC card.

Step 2
Brisbane North Institute of TAFE will process your application and send you an Offer of Place. This may be a conditional offer made on the basis that you meet certain conditions or requirements. These will be stated in the offer.
Step 3
Before the expiry date on your Offer of Place, you should pay the tuition fees and the Overseas Student Health Coverage (OSHC) as stated on the offer by: bank draft or cheque made payable to Brisbane North Institute of TAFE; or International Money Transfer; or credit card. You also need to:
read the Refund and Transfer Policy attached to the Offer of Place. When you are sure you understand this policy, sign the English copy where indicated. Return the signed copy of the refund and transfer policy either by fax, mail or email.
If your Offer of Place is conditional, forward the required documentation to show that those conditions have been met. If these are not available, contact International Programs immediately.
Step 4
Brisbane North Institute of TAFE will send you the following items:
- a receipt for the payment of tuition fees and health cover (OSHC)
- a Confirmation of Enrolment form (COE) once all conditions are met
- referal to our prefered homestay provider
- an OSHC brochure.
Brisbane North Institute of TAFE will send your OSHC payment and details of your intended stay to Medibank private.
Step 5
These documents will be sent to your agent or nominated postal address, so it is important to ensure that if you change your address you notify the International Student Services Officer immediately.
About a month before your program begins, the Faculty will send you an orientation package indicating the starting date of the program and the orientation program that you need to attend. Please note that attendance at orientation is compulsory for all International students.
Step 6
Book your airline ticket after collecting your student visa.
Step 7
If you require accommodation and/or an airport reception, please contact Brisbane North Institute of TAFE's prefered homestay provider.
Step 8
If you have completed the Accommodation and Airport Reception Booking form and made the required payment, a representative of BECAB will meet you at the airport and take you to your accommodation.
Step 9
You start classes on the first day of the program (this includes any orientation). If you cannot arrive in time to begin your study program, you must advise Brisbane North Institute of TAFE immediately.
Step 10
At Orientation, student services will inform you of ways that Medibank Private can assist you. Please note that attendance at orientation is compulsory for all International students.
