TAFE to University pathways

Brisbane North Institute of TAFE (BNIT) has established links with many prestigious universities enabling graduating diploma and advanced diploma students credit towards their degree qualifications. This provides a considerable saving to the student in both time and money as well as providing a defined pathway to further tertiary study and career outcomes.

Many students find the progression from school to university much more enjoyable by transitioning through TAFE. The hands-on, practical approach to training and supportive learning environment experienced at BNIT helps students develop their skills and confidence in preparation for university.

Improve your Tertiary Entrance Rank

By completing a diploma program at BNIT a student will enhance their ranking and may become eligible for entry into a degree program. Up to twelve months' credit may be given toward the degree program for the completed diploma study.

Reduce your study time and your cost of study

A student who completes a relevant diploma will qualify for entry into a corresponding degree program and receive credit toward that degree program. As most TAFE programs are government subsidised, choosing this option represents a significant saving.

Gain a dual award - study a combined diploma and degree program

A student can choose one of the dual awards from the list below and apply through QTAC for this program. Having been accepted into this program, the student will complete the diploma level studies and then continue with bachelor studies. Once again this option will benefit the student with significant savings as well as the added benefit of gaining two qualifications instead of one.

Dual Awards Programs

Students can apply through QTAC for the BNIT Dual Awards program which operate jointly with QUT or Griffith University.

Once accepted into this program the student completes the diploma and moves directly into university studies without having to reapply to QTAC. The Dual Award Programs offered by Brisbane North Institute of TAFE include:

  • Diploma of Business/Bachelor of Business (QUT)
  • Diploma of Information Technology (Software Development)/ Bachelor of Information Technology (QUT) (GU)
  • Diploma of Information Technology (Database Design and Development)/Bachelor of Information Technology (QUT) (GU)
  • Diploma of Information Technology (Networking)/Bachelor of Information Technology (QUT) (GU)
  • Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing)/Bachelor of Nursing (QUT)

Brisbane North Institute of TAFE (BNIT) has developed strong links with Queensland's top universities.

Credit transfer arrangements are in place between the Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP), Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), University of Queensland (UQ), and University of Southern Queensland (USQ) across a broad range of vocational training areas.
