Access Team Equity Grants 2012
BNIT's Access Team launches the fourth annual Equity Grants initiative. Since 2009 over 36 grants have been awarded to disadvantaged students to assist with the cost of their fees, while serving as an encouragement to continue doing well academically or by making a difference in their community.
Important information
Equity Grants are determined on the basis of academic achievement and/or community contribution, plus disadvantage in the following areas (as many as apply to an individual):
- Educational disruption
- Home environment and responsibilities
- English language difficulty
- Personal illness/disability
BNIT domestic students who are currently enrolled in a certificate III program or higher, and studying on campus or through TAFE Open Learning, are eligible to apply.
Applicants must nominate directly and provide a referee statement regarding their area of achievement from either a teacher or community agency/charity representative.
Grant amounts are determined by a selection panel and paid directly against students' fees. No individual amount will exceed $500. Applications must be received by COB Friday, 26 October 2012.

Mick Young Scholarship Trust
The Mick Young Scholarship Trust provides annual scholarships for financially disadvantaged students. The Trust was set up in memory of the late Mick Young, a former Member of Parliament and Federal Cabinet Minister, who sought to enhance opportunities for financially disadvantaged people. Applications are made available in first semester for enrolled students and close at the end of February each year.
Mick Young Scholarship 2013
Brisbane North Institute of TAFE will offer scholarships to students on behalf of the Mick Young Scholarship Trust at O Week 2013.
