"Before starting this traineeship I was working in the role of Warehouse and Logistics Manager but felt I needed more theory behind me to understand why I do what I do.

With my employer's support and government funding, I was able to undertake the traineeship. I now feel more confident in moving up the management ladder and have a clear overview on how to undertake my role.

My experience at BNIT has been great! I have met many people from different work areas, which always makes the class discussions very interesting. The subjects have also been very interesting and in applying the theory to day-to-day tasks in my role, I now have a greater understanding and feel more confident coming forward with ideas and managing staff.

I definitely recommend this course to those looking at pursuing a career in business management and/or being a supervisor. This course equips you with the theory to understand the role with complete confidence and provides the skills through class activities and group work to perform required work tasks.

Thank you to the teachers for making the subjects interesting, achievable and flexible with all students and their hectic work and life schedule, your support is very much appreciated."

"I wanted a career change from IT to HR, but didn't want to change my employer who I had been employed with for 11 years. So I chose the traineeship with BNIT as it was not only cost effective, but well recognised. As a sole parent, I also needed a study program that was flexible to suit the needs of both myself and my employer.

My BNIT experience has been awesome, although as an adult at first I felt that going back to study after so long was scary and I was dubious that I was up for the task. I now feel motivated and feel that I am doing something positive for my future which will enable me to secure the position I want as well as gain financially due to my commitment. It is nice to know there is support for continuing education with adults.

When I finish my traineeship I will be promoted to HR Advisor or Specialist Recruitment Manager. This will all be due to the traineeship and proving my dedication to my work."

"I had become a permanent employee in the food industry and was offered the opportunity to do this traineeship which I jumped at as I thought it would be good way to expand my qualifications and knowledge.

My experience training and studying at BNIT was really enjoyable and I've learnt a lot about all different aspects of the food industry. My teacher is very knowledgeable and always approachable. She always encourages me to follow through with my projects to ensure that they get done.

I now feel more confident and know that I am very competent in my work role. I would definitely recommend this traineeship at BNIT to others as it provides you with the knowledge to be successful in the food industry."

Brendan Ott
Turf Management apprentice

"The personal goals I have achieved since completing my training at BNIT include a workplace promotion from apprentice to tradesperson. I am now Superintendent in charge of the grounds and sports facilities at a large regional grammar school. In this role, I am solely responsible for the maintenance and presentation of all of the college grounds, including three cricket wicket blocks, three practice turf blocks, six ovals and surrounds.

Through my learning at BNIT, I have gained the ability to understand specific areas that are vital for turf grass health, cultural practices that enhance turf health, soil water requirements, and preparation techniques. These areas were taught to me with such clarity while at BNIT, it has enabled me to put into practice what I learnt very easily.

My immediate aspirations are to continue producing first class playing surfaces for my employer and gaining as much practical experience as I can in relation to preparation of cricket wickets. My long term aspirations are to enter a Turf Management "internship" in the US. This internship involves being billeted to a major US sporting arena for up to 12 months."
