Awards

An award is a formal certificate that demonstrates your completion of an accredited qualification. It is issued on official TAFE Queensland letterhead and can be used to evidence completion of a qualification. It is usually accompanied by an Award Elements List, which details the program elements completed that have been used in issuing the qualification.

To be eligible for a course award, a student must successfully complete all relevant competencies/modules, as well as any other program requirements that may exist.

Once you have become eligible for an award it will automatically be issued to you by post from the BNIT Academic Hub. It is very important that your postal address as recorded in the TAFE Queensland student database is current and correct for when your award is issued. If issued to an incorrect address, you will be required to apply for your award to be re-issued and in most circumstances will be required to pay a replacement fee.

When can I be issued an award?

Awards are only granted for completion of accredited qualifications. Most short courses, non-accredited courses, and programs that involve completion of only selected subjects will not result in award being issued on the basis of those studies alone. However, completion of most courses will result in some form of results or academic transcript becoming available for issue.

An award is only issued when an individual's successful completion has been formally noted and all requirements have been met as per Training Package rules under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

BNIT will issue awards to eligible students within the prescribed 21 day timeframe from the date of the last official grade being issued as detailed in the Training and Employment Act 2000.

If you have completed studies towards your qualification through more than one TAFE provider, the TAFE you have completed most of your studies with will issue the qualification.
